Just to say thank you to @myfamilysfooddiary for organizing this year’s #febulouscyopriotfood campaign. (I know it’s March, and I am a few days late with this post 🙈) I loved getting to know so many other Cypriot foodies, and saved heaps of Cypriot recipes I can’t wait to make. It’s a beautiful way to showcase our lovely cuisine.

Last sweet shot: doukissa at my aunt’s house. I always remember eating this at birthday celebrations growing up, and even while being grown up. Such a decadent, rich but simple cake. Recipe in my upcoming book. It took me a few tries to perfect this recipe as I was after a particular texture and level of sweetness (can’t say we didn’t enjoy trying out the “almost there” versions though hee hee). Hope you are all well. 🌸☕️

(PS Thanks for your patience with my cookbook references, covid meant things took a lot longer, but we are almost there and I can wait to share more photos, recipes and a cookbook giveaway in celebration with you all soon. ❤️)

Bite size baklava for the last week of #febulouscypriotfood - Mrs Popi’s baklava to be exact. I can not wait to share this recipe with you all in the cookbook. By far the best baklava I have ever tasted, and Mrs Popi, kindly and gracefully, provided me with her recipe for the book. It’s not too sweet, lots of pistachio crunch, buttery, flaky, and just the right amount of lemon honey syrup, it’s perfection. Her baklava is renowned in Cyprus. So thankful she took the day to show me how to make it, and even gifted me the right sized Pyrex to ensure I could make it again. (The right sized pan is important). Thank you Mrs Popi. @loulouby27

Walnut Glyko. Everyone seems to have a favourite spoon sweet, this is mine. It’s a childhood favourite, I remember unlabelled jars of it hidden deep in my Yia Yia’s and aunties’ cupboards. Have you made it before? It’s a long process, several rolling boils, skewering, peeling, not to mention knowing when the walnuts are just ripe for making it, but it’s not hard. I have a step by step recipe process on the blog, and I’m excited to share a similar recipe in my cookbook. This is my first post of the last week of #febulouscypriotfood - we are sharing Cypriot sweets.
